High School Equivalency Certificate (HSEC)

Available for Institutional Partnerships ONLY:

 

Forest Trail Academy offers a certificate with our HSEC Program online. The HSEC program can be completed in as little as 2-6 weeks; however, you have 90 days to complete all coursework from your enrollment date. In order to participate in the High School Equivalency Certificate (HSEC) program, you must be 18 or older.

 

Before enrolling, please verify with your college and or job of choice for acceptance of the High School Equivalency Certificate. (This is NOT a diploma program).

 

The High School Equivalency Certificate is composed of six (6) sections: Language Arts: Reading, Language Arts: Writing, Language Arts: Essay, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies. Four (Language Arts: Reading, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies) of the six components are comprised of multiple choice questions. Seventy percent (70%) or better must be attained on each section in order to receive a High School Certificate. Because Forest Trail Academy (FTA) is committed to your education, we allow each student one (1) extra opportunity free of charge to retake the test should you fail the HSEC test on the first attempt.

If you attains less than a 70% on any section, please contact the main office in order for us to reset the HSEC test. The four sections that are comprised of the multiple choice are automatically graded and that you will receive your grades immediately. However, please allow seventy-two (72) hours for the essay/writing component of the test to be graded.


The Online High School Certificate is for adult learners. The test covers the following 12th grade competencies.

All students who take this exam are required to pass with a 70% or higher in order to earn their High School Equivalency Certificate.

 

Additionally, all students should be over the age of 18 in order to take the test, otherwise they have to have permission from their parent.

Grades and Resetting the Test

 

If your student attains less than a 70% on any section, please contact the main office in order for us to reset the HSEC test. The four sections that are comprised of the multiple choice are automatically graded so that your student may receive his/her grades immediately after submitting his/her test. However, please allow seventy-two (72) hours for the essay/writing component of the test to be graded.

 

The High School Equivalency Certificate (HSEC) program is a ninety (90) day program. Your student has 90 days to complete all of the coursework from his/her enrollment date.


Completing the High School Equivalency Certificate


After completing the High School Equivalency Certificate (HSEC) program with a 70% or better on each section, please request and fill out a transcript request form. Your student's transcript will be faxed, mailed to your home, and or institution of your choice. Once we verify that your student's academic requirements have been met and tuition has been paid in full, your student will receive his/her High School Certificate in 3-6 weeks.
